OK.  You convinced me.

I am ready to start tackling the performace of SableCC 3 "generated" code
*if* someone provides me with benchmarking and profiling results clearly
identifying the performance problems.

[You can ask Kevin Agbakpem <kevin@larc.info.uqam.ca> for the SableCC 3
release candidate source code].

I repeat: the objective is not to make "SableCC" faster; it is to make
SableCC generated lexers, parsers, and AST builders faster.  (One step
at a time).
