[Soot-list] Newbie question

I was trying to make use of soot to patch a 3rd-
party class. Decompiling and patching were ok but 
I couldn't figure how to go back from jimple/jimp/
etc to class file. I am surprised that this is 
not covered in the tutorial (unless I missed it).
Calling soot with '-f class' did not work (obscure
error about soot class path: what's a "class path"
for compiling jimp files??).
