It's certainly quite plausible that abc users don't care about using odd
snapshots in abc.

On the soot-list, we have had "complaints" from users about having
to use odd snapshots of things to build Soot. They weren't complaints so
much as cries for help, and in the end, these users found it hard to hide
their frustration as we tried to walk them through making sure they had
all the right versions of everything to get it all to build.

I agree with you that abc users probably don't care. I'm just trying to
say that Soot users are quite different from abc users at this point.
