Thanks to the contribution from Eric Bodden, Patrick Lam, Ondrej Lhotak and
others' efforts. Soot is quite useful and popular in academic setting.
Every year in the programming language and compiler related conferences
(PLDI, POPL, CGO, ...), there are a bunch of papers using Soot.

As many said, Soot is maintained in an academic setting, the same as its
documents. Most of the Soot documentation (
http://www.sable.mcgill.ca/soot/tutorial/) are maintained by Eric, which
are great efforts. My suggestion is that it might be better to make the
documentation system more easier for public to contribute, like wiki.
Everyone could contribute to the documents a little while finding some
errors or updates, or even creating more interesting new tutorial with
pictures by others. : )
